Module 6.Studying in the European Higher Education Area.

Part 2: Methodological issues

3. Type of teaching and learning

Face-to-face (or in-teacher presence)/autonomous (or off-teacher presence) learning represent the different scenarios where interaction between teaching staff and students takes place in the learning process. As the EHEA explains, universities have to do an effort to define a certain time-space framework for the implementation of academic activities and tasks, for the enhancement of students’ training and optimisation of resources. These elements influence physical arrangements (classrooms, laboratories, seminars, external units, etc.), timetables and teaching staff tasks. Moreover, these elements are differently conceived in the various higher education institutions where teaching and learning takes place.
